DuCon Space

Unknown region

Space

Population: Unknown beyond the Dual Convergence planet

The region of space is unknown beyond the realm of the moon and a few satellites. Space is a very inhospitable place that has many wondering if life could ever be sustained beyond the planet.

With the huge advancements in robotics and technology, none of the governing bodies of any space program has seen fit to send a living being into the hostile area. There would be no need to risk a living being when a well programmed android or robot could get the same data as any living being.

It is far less expensive to send artificial life into space as well. The governing bodies that operate the space programs would never have to compensate the families should an accident occur.

The most notable feature of space that can be seen from the Dual convergence planet is the two moons. One moon is by all accounts a true satellite with mass and gravity and very much like the moon in earths orbit. The second moon though is a mystery. It looks like a moon, but no probe has ever landed on it successfully. All attempts to land probes, robots and androids on the second moon had failed. The second moon seems to have a reverse gravity, which repels objects of all type. Which explains the reverse orbit it takes around the planet. Most believe it is a wayward asteroid that floated into the gravitational orbit of the planet yet never draws closer due to the reverse gravity that it seems to have.

Importance

Space still has a strong influence on the planet DuCon. The constellations guide much of the eastern continents as the traditional power of magic still has a strong hold on the entire culture in that part of the world. It has been said by western science that at time the power levels of the east fluctuates based on the phases of the moon stars and sun. Unfortunately how and what causes this mysterious change in energy is still a mystery. The other major impact that space holds are the vast amount of undetected resources, which at some point the DuCon planet will reach a finite end. When that time comes a huge restructuring of the worlds systems will be needed as well as a cultural revolution.

Writers and Game Moderators

The following information is a still being explored by our creative staff at 14ucomics.net.
If you have any additional feedback or would like to take on writing more about the space of the Dual Convergence world, please feel free to submit your ideas to us.

The second moon with the reverse gravitational pull is actually a large space ship or space station from another planet. All that is known is that it is a moon. The Space Station / Space Ship is really projecting a hologram of an asteroid surface that surrounds the hull. It also doubles as an energy field or force field that offers protection from attack that can be manipulated to let thing in, pass through or repel objects or threats to what ever is inside. (We have production image in the works. – stay tuned.)

The second moon has been in orbit for over one thousand years and has been collecting data from the DuCon planet. What purpose the Space Ship/ Space Station serves has yet to be determined as first contact with the planet could change everything, or shift the power of the planet over to the technological advanced western continent.

We at 14ucomics.net are hammering out details about the region of space and are opened to sharing ideas. If you have anything you want to explore feel free to send us your thoughts. The more questions we answer the quicker we release updates to you. The 14ucomics team is very excited about shaking things up and even the goblin (Yassif) wants to see what this new magic can do.

UPDATE: 1

The Second moon is not a moon. The science team on the God Send Station has determined that the second moon is more likely to be a space station then a star ship due to the size of the structure. The orbital science team insists that it is an alien space station with several large star ships attached to it.
The science teams here on DuCon have named the alien space station Bud and the attached star ships petals 1-6 though a true count of the number of ships is largely undetermined at this time.

Data retrieved is minimal, as every probe that penetrates the holographic field of the moon is not relaying information past five-minute intervals of penetrating the energized surface.

Until more solid data can be retrieved we have decided to reserve comment on the other findings at this time. Both ground teams and orbital teams continue to break apart findings to better get through all of the information we have and we should have a more solid picture of what we are dealing with on the next update.

 UPDATE: 2

The second moon continues to offer challenges as far as collecting information. Probes continue to be repelled by the holographic field or simply fade out of usefulness once passing through the energized surface. Because our past efforts had success we believe that the entire structure is functioning on an automated capacity. The sequence that it is using is purely defensive in nature, very simplistic and effective.

First it searches for a threat, or foreign bodies. The probes we are sending out are being seen as a problem for the second moon space station. Then like a technological immune system the second moon activates the defensive system that neutralize our probes.

Some of the ground-teams working on the project feel that this might be an opportunity to send a living pilot into orbit to guide a probe to the second moon. We have never had a living pilot in space as our robotics program has met all our needs in the past. Now we find our selves with an opportunity where a more reactive and instinctive response of a living pilot may be required to adapt to the defensive tactics being used by the second moon.

At the moment we are weighing the risks and value of such an intrusion into the alien space station. To us it looks like a second moon, but to those inside they may feel that the space around the alien space station is theirs. We may see a living pilot on a probe by the end of the year if we cannot improve our success in collecting data on the space station hiding in the guise of a second moon.

This does not mean we are abandoning out robotics program. We will continue to use robotics as a support to any human engagement in orbit as we always have.

UPDATE: 3

After much deliberation, the governing bodies of all major western cities have decided to form the united space council. With guidelines taken from the God Send Council, it has been determined that a two person probe will launch into orbit directly from the God Send Station. During our search for the two qualified candidates our research will continue on the second moon and the alien space station within the holographic energy field.

UPDATE: 4

Both the God Send Council and the United Space Council have decided that the exploration of the second moon would require a support system and require a broader skill set to ensure success. The two humans that will pilot the probe will be chosen from a list collect by both Councils.

UPDATE: 5

The Emperor wants to have a presence in the exploration of the universe and offered that they to submit members in the search for answers. Since the discovery of the false second moon, much of the magical practices have begun to change and more so for the fact that it has driven a wedge between those who thought the alignment of moons increased magical energies, verses those who always suspected that some thing else was contributing to spikes in magic.

In an offer of aiding in the research, the eastern magic world has been able to confirm that not six but eight star ships are attached to the alien space station.

UPDATE: 6

Due to the sensitivity of first contact with aliens the nations have agreed to a publication ban on any further events. It is for the safety of all citizens that no undo panic is introduced to the people as a whole. It is out of respect for the intelligence, security and welfare of all that this choice is made. SHould events come to a point where a mutual resolution can be obtained, reassured that all citizens will hear about events and be updated in the appropriate manner, through all media outlets.

We do offer this final illustration of the space station in the second moon. We are sure you would all agree that the size of this ship leave a lot for investigation. Leaves many questions that we don't have answers for. We will not make assumptions but rather report only facts. Because of this search for truth, we do not want to mislead you, or public, and citizens of the DuCon nation.
