Icesik

The City of Giants

Icesik

Population: 2,738,870

Icesik has long been the center of rumor and innuendo. Often described as indecorous, vast and magnificent, the majority of its people are as well served as any population can be.

Icesik sits on a promontory section of land making the trek to the city a difficult one for those not of giant stature, but where else can one see the wonders of nature entwined civilly with culture. The hike to the giant city is well worth the challenge as one is welcomed by a breath taking view that includes a tremendous icecap, spouting geyser, raging rivers, magnificent waterfalls with a multitude of birds cavorting within the city.

Buildings are primarily carved out of raw stone adorned with banners and pennants of all type. Entranceways are covered with all manner of barriers from exotic animal hides to finely crafted bronze and steel doors. In the older part of the city new construction practices are used to grow old living spaces making it appear as if the mountains have buildings erupting from them in a beautiful blend of old and new practices.

Most of the Icesik citizens are fair-haired with colors from strawberry blond, to silvers. The average height of the population rounded out sits at 7'.2". Making them the tallest average on the Dual Convergence planet. Many scientist believe these traits are handed down from pure giants of fire, cloud and storm types that may have slowly accepted humans among them and are still considered to have one of the purist genetic lines on the planet.

Another notable feature of the city is the warm welcome it offers to all giant races of the planet. Trolls, Ogres, Huge Robots, Giants, Gods and Demi Gods and dragons all are seen here more then anywhere else on the planet.

This giant city is true to its hereditary roots with the open-air market where food is displayed, dried and prepared for visitors. Tourist should take not that giants do eat humans and the laws state that you are fair game if you cross a giant in Icesik. Fortunately they have a fair and just legal system that allows most offenders to get off with forced slavery for their petty crimes.

Icesik nationals tend to view surrounding foreigners as both a threat and a resource. The threat of invasion against Icesik has happened so many times in the past that the giants cannot deny another attack as many try to capture and enslave the giants still today. What is worse still is the master wizards of Marblonia often pay high prices for parts of giants to be used in twisted sorcery. It is well known that any crimes against a giant or native in Icesik leads to slavery and death, and the Icesik citizen has full right to defend themselves to the fullest extent to capture or detain the offender. This law adds to the fearful reputation that giants have, as they are quick to unite to capture a threat to themselves or their city.

There are great benefits of having so many foreigners surrounding Icesik. First it minimizes the threat of attack or invasion the second is the amount of trade that comes into the city. Many travelers simply want to see the grandeurs of giant hotels, homes and castles. This curiosity has made Icesik sustainable through tourism alone if it so chooses to do so. Everything that a person could want is traded here in both normal and giant size. Food, and goods related to the culinary world are all offered at giant size. This reinforces the phrase "The only way to live in Icesik is large".

Icesik is ruled in accordance with the hereditary laws of giants that state, "any may claim leadership of the people so long as they have the consent of the council to challenge the current ruler and can defeat them in combat". Ruler ship is earned only through the submission or death of the opponent, only the victor can be named the ruler of Icesik.

Leadership

Giago "The Great" Trezzofk is the current ruler of Icesik. Pronounced (Gee-a-go)"The Great (Trez-off). Under his rule the main trade export commodity is giant ale. Selling at a fair price, most merchants know that they are leaving with 30% more product then with any other trade destination so the merchants do not argue. Giago has also ensured his place in history as being the longest reigning leader of giants as he has yet to be bested in individual combat. He is a silver, turquoise haired giant that is a direct descendant of cloud and storm giants, which he simply brushes off as the speculation of scientist.

A contentious point among Icesik giants is that Giago "The Great" Trezzofk sadly has included robots, androids and other man made giant constructs, into the group that can challenge for leadership, which may ultimately lead to the giants being ruled by a puny man in the near future.

Giago "The Great" Trezzofk has foreseen this trend coming and made arrangement to have laws change regarding outside technology. Now it is possible to purchase giant weaponry and tools for hunting. Giago "The Great" Trezzofk has also ensured that only traditional combat be allowed while challenging for the leadership of giant kind. The only exception now is all contestants are permitted armor so that a broader range of challengers may enter the competition for ruling giant kind with an even keel share of a chance.

It is indisputable how grand Icesik truly is. Famed warriors have visited the city for combat training, gladiatorial games and exotic pleasures of all sorts. No matter the opinions of giant fearing people, Icesik has a strong base of supporters that will continue to work in favor of protecting and advancing the right of giants.

Icesik is inspired by Norse Mythology, as one of the richest blends of fantasy offering the mix of human and deity interaction known through out history.
