God Send Council

History at a Glance!
by Richard Grzela Edited by Jim Butler

Established in the year 1944, it was the first defense alliance formed during peacetime. It was a treaty that proposed to place supernatural individuals in the front line for world defense.

It provided a way for the world to contend with the threats from space by creating a buffer zone. One of the largest challenges was breaking away from the isolationist views of business and power for one nation. The reality was throughout history the world at large had faced major conflicts with mutants, robots, demons, and magics that have forced nations to work together to overcome those threats when they were unprepared. This treaty allowed for the world to have a plan in place in the event that such a threat unfolded. The burden of an intergalactic invasion would be hampered by a treaty and provide a quick response through an international alliance.

By the summer of 1944 secret talks were well underway with international nations. It was after several long debates the alliance treaty was signed in the fall of 1944.
It remains little more then a paper document until the opportunity to apply it comes forth. The criterion that exists for the alliance is still questioned by critics as it holds only two simple factors for selecting a team of defenders. To this point, a xenophobic sense with the desire to have the human race survive.

The second is the individuals presented must have the power and means to aggressively handle an extraterrestrial threat. By the time the first snows fell in the same year, all countries had submitted a list of individuals they felt would be best for a defense effort. Many of which turned out to be very dangerous super criminals that many nations did not care if they lived or died, not wanting them to ever return to cause trouble. That left the international community at another conflict as the selection was balanced out with the reward criteria that nations had to consider.

Should individuals accept such a duty for the international community they would be compensated for their success with the following: Selected individuals would receive a tax-free life for the rest of their living days. A home for themselves of average price anywhere in the world of their choosing. Selected individuals would receive a minimum reward of $200 million dollars for their service of defending the DuCon. Only those selected by the council would be compensated for such action. Should the selected parties die, or fail then the agreement would be void.

Many critics again stepped forward stating that it is not an affordable proposition, however it was struck down stating death of every human or slavery to an alien race is not affordable to anyone. This hypothetical argument held in the event that an intergalactic action was needed. It was also recognized that individuals working for or on the God Send project, directly or indirectly were to be compensated equally if an invasion occurred while they were in service.

This lead to the construction of the God Send Space Station named GSC1. Currently the space station is operating as a scientific lab with a minimum of eight scientists on board at any given time.

Many questions still exist about the defense alliance treaty. They have been listed as the following: Who is on the list? Is there a redundancy plan? How would those heroes get to the space station? What if they win, who could stop them from attacking the DuCon? What is the plan if they fail? All of these questions have yet to be answered as a threat of extraterrestrials is but a piece of fiction at this time. Much more news will unfold when the answers are shared with the population as a whole, only if a threat presents itself.
